The short version: Fae doesn't collect your data. This policy explains why we still have one.
Effective date: February 2025. Last updated: February 2025.
Saorsa Labs ("we", "us", "our") develops Fae, a personal AI companion application. Our registered contact is privacy@saorsalabs.com.
For the purposes of the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, Saorsa Labs is the data controller for any personal data processed through this website (saorsalabs.com). For the Fae application itself, all processing occurs locally on your device — we are not a data controller or processor for that data.
Fae runs entirely on your computer. All data generated by the application — including conversations, memories, voice audio, camera images, configuration, and scheduling data — is processed and stored locally on your device. None of this data is transmitted to Saorsa Labs or any third party.
Fae may periodically check for software updates by contacting GitHub's release API. This check transmits only a version number and standard HTTP headers. You can disable this check entirely in Fae's settings. No personal data is transmitted during update checks.
Fae stores data in the following locations on your device:
~/.fae/memory/ (JSONL format, human-readable)~/.config/fae/config.toml (plain TOML)~/.config/fae/scheduler.json~/.fae/skills/ (Markdown files)You can inspect, modify, export, or delete any of this data at any time. The "delete all data" command removes everything — data directory, cache, configuration, and keychain credentials.
Because all Fae data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to us, you have complete control over it. You can access, modify, export, or delete your data at any time without contacting us. You can also ask Fae directly to forget specific information.
If you sign up for our waitlist, we collect your email address for the sole purpose of notifying you about Fae's availability and development updates. We process this data on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
You can withdraw your consent and request deletion of your email at any time by contacting privacy@saorsalabs.com. We will delete your email address promptly upon request.
This website does not use cookies, tracking pixels, analytics services, or any form of user tracking. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar services.
Our hosting provider may collect standard server access logs (IP address, browser user agent, timestamp, requested URL) for security and operational purposes. These logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days and are not used for analytics or profiling.
If you are in the UK, EU, or EEA, you have the following rights regarding any personal data we hold (primarily your waitlist email):
To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@saorsalabs.com. We will respond within 30 days.
We do not transfer personal data outside of the UK or EEA. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us.
For the Fae application, security is architectural: data never leaves your device. For waitlist email addresses, we implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
The Fae application does not integrate with or transmit data to third-party services. The only external request is the optional version update check via GitHub's public API.
This website may link to third-party websites (such as GitHub). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through this page with an updated effective date. If you are on our waitlist, we will notify you of significant changes by email.
